MILLION MILE MONTH NEWS!

We mentioned about a month ago that  The Austin Public Library (APL) has lots of awesome events planned around Million Mile Month.  Last week we attended a great Million Mile Month kick-off event for Austin Public Library employees that included a healthy eating presentation from Sustainable Food Center and lots of computers to get registered for Million Mile Month.

MILLION MILE MONTH NEWS!

March 9, 2014 – Austin American Statesman – By Pam LeBlanc – Million Mile Month encourages participants to log exercise during April – Be one in a million.

If you’ve been paying any attention, you know America continues to gain weight.

More than a third of Texas children are overweight or obese, and lately we’ve learned that even regular runners who spend long stretches of the day glued to their computers are at risk of what’s being called “sitting disease.”

So get up.

Need some motivation? The folks at Cyberways and Waterways, a nonprofit organization dedicated to children’s health and wellness, have created Million Mile Month, a one-month challenge that encourages Central Texans to move a collective 1 million miles during the month of April.
