‘Vege-War’ Wins Bestivore

“Austin Brightly fought back “fast foodies” and won the “Vege-War” to take first place in this year’s Healthivore Video Game Contest.

The Henry Middle School student won the best overall, or “Bestivore,” award out of nearly 400 entries from 42 schools across the country for his game, “Vege-Wars.” The competition is put on each year by Green Ribbon Schools in association with AMD, a California-based computer processor company, to promote creative learning on topics like energy, the environment and health.”

Gamestar Mechanic Teacher Blog praises Healthivores

“Often playing video games is associated with unhealthy behavior.  There is a strong stereotype of a gamer who stays in the basement, eating junk food and never leaving the house.

So it may come as a surprise to some when Green Ribbon Schools added a game design contest as part of their Healthivores program.”
